It seems like domestic audiences may have tired of Michael Bay’s Transformers movies. The fifth film in the series, Transformers: The Last Knight, had a lackluster opening weekend at the North American box office, only making $45.3 million from Friday-Sunday. The Michael Bay-directed movie has earned $69.1 million since opening Wednesday.

To put that into perspective, the second lowest-grossing opening weekend for a Transformers film was the very first one in the Michael Bay series. That movie grossed $70.5 million in its opening weekend, but that was also a decade ago. When you adjust for inflation, The Last Knight’s opening weekend becomes just that much more lackluster.
