Nintendo has confirmed that while video streaming services will not be on Switch at launch, they haven’t been ruled out for the future.

A Nintendo representative provided the following statement to IGN:

“All of our efforts have gone toward making the Nintendo Switch system an amazing dedicated video game platform, so it will not support any video-streaming services at launch. However, support for video-streaming services is being considered for a future update.”

We reached out to Netflix and Twitch about apps on Switch but received no comment.

Back in 2012, video streaming apps including Netflix, YouTube, Hulu and Amazon were planned for Wii U’s release but were delayed into the months after launch. Video apps including Hulu, Netflix, and YouTube also came to 3DS following its launch.
