A new Ghost in the Shell anime project is in the works at Japanese animation studio Production I.G.
According to an announcement posted on Production I.G.’s official website, the project will be co-directed by Kenji Kamiyama (Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex) and Shinji Aramaki (Appleseed Alpha).
For now, details are scarce. No title or release date have been announced, and we don’t yet know if the project will be a TV series or movie.
Ghost in a Shell began its life as a manga created by Shirow Masamune in 1989. The franchise was adapted into an animated feature film by director Mamoru Oshii in 1995, and has since expanded into a variety of other mediums, including video games and television.
