Warner Bros. has plans for a movie based on the classic cartoon The Jetsons, and Conrad Vernon is reportedly tapped to direct, according to THR.
Vernon recently was the co-director of the raunchy food-based comedy Sausage Party, which starred, amongst others, Seth Rogen and Kristen Wiig.
The tale of the Jetson family and their dog Astro is unlikely to follow in the hard-R footsteps of that movie, but Vernon has worked on more family-friendly fare as well. He co-directed Shrek 2, Monsters vs. Aliens, and Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted. Clearly, he is a veteran of animated film, and should be up to the task of directing an animated Jetsons movie. There has been talk of the futuristic family being turned into a live-action movie for a while, but the hiring of Vernon pretty much locks them in for the animation route.
